Born 10 weeks premature due to four gunshot wounds to his mother. Chanceller Adams beginning seemed bleak and unsure. Although four bullets hit his mother, Cherica Adams, not one hit the unborn Chanceller. But loss of blood and oxygen to him while in his mother left him with severely handicapped, and was born at only 5 pounds. The damage to his brain caused cerebral palsy, affecting ever muscle in his body. Now Chanceller depends on his grandmother Saundra Adams as his care taker, because as a young boy he needs constant care. Do to his handicap Chanceller goes to both speech and physical therapy. Within the first 45 minutes of speech therapy he request water. His physical therapy is just as tasking. He goes through an hour of physical therapy working through his routine of: sit-ups, push-ups, crunches, and then he walks down a hall taking 87 steps without falling. He is able to open heavy doors without falling also, and is able to use the stairwell. Even with all the hard work he have to do to achieve what we would consider simple tasks he is able to find joy in each tiny accomplishment, whether it's a new step or a new word he is able to find joy in his life. Although born with a large disadvantage he never seems discouraged.
